SLaPB - MICRO CREDENTIAL

INTRODUCTION

  • Modular Programme are short-term programmes that may be conducted on a full-time or part-time basis at Accredited Centres (PB), in accordance with the training duration approved by the Department of Skills Development (JPK). There are two categories of Micro-Credential Programmes:

    a. Modular Programme CU (M-CU): May consist of one (1) Competency Unit (CU) or a combination of several CUs from the same or different National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) within the same sub-sector/division.

    b. Modular Programme WA (M-WA): May consist of one (1) Work Activity (WA) or a combination of several WAs from the same or different NOSS within the same sub-sector/division.

    The minimum training duration for Micro-Credential programmes shall be as specified in the respective NOSS. The implementation of training and assessment for Micro-Credential programmes must be at least 20 hours, inclusive of the assessment period.

  • NCS Programmes are short-term programmes implemented independently without integration with other programmes and must refer to the current NOSS register (excluding NCS Core Abilities).

TYPES OF MODULAR PROGRAMMES

  1. Modular Programme via Application for New Programme Accreditation (New PB) or Programme Extension.

Any skills training provider applying for skills programme accreditation for the first time (New Programme), or those whose accreditation certificates remain valid and wish to accredit additional training programmes (Programme Extension), shall submit an application to the Director General via the MySpike system. Such applications must comply with the procedures and criteria established by the Department of Skills Development (JPK).

  1. A copy of the letter or certificate of approval to conduct training issued by any government agency or authority. 

  2. A copy of the premise ownership information or a valid tenancy agreement if the premise is rented.

For Training Providers (PLK / PB) in the State of Sarawak / Sabah only

  1. A copy of valid work permit from the Sarawak / Sabah Immigration Department for individuals who are non-residents of the respective state. 

  2. Job offer letter from the employer in Sabah / Sarawak.

  1. Training Pathway Chart.

  2. NOSS Matrix (for old NOSS formats).

  3. Course outline / Complete Learning Package (i.e Course of Study or Learning Guide or any learning package  that fulfills NOSS requirements for old NOSS formats).

  4. Teaching and Learning Materials (BPdP).

  5. Coursework Assessment and Internal Final Assessment / Final Assessment Documents.

2. Implementation of Modular Programmes via Existing Accreditation.

An Accredited Centre (PB) that has been accredited for a full programme may apply to implement a Modular programme based on the same full programme without requiring re-accreditation.
