Introduction
Academy in Industry (ADI) Apprenticeship is a rebranding of the National Dual Training System (NDTS). It comprises:
Training conducted at the actual workplace (company), covering 70%–80% of practical, performance-based learning; and
Training delivered at the training centre, covering 20%–30% of theoretical, knowledge-based learning.
Objectives of ADI Apprenticeship
Developing Knowledge Workers (K-Workers) referring to employees who possess three core competency elements:
Technical : Proficiency in specialized skills and tasks according to industry requirements.
Social & Humanities : Interpersonal communication skills, professional ethics, and social responsibility.
Methodology & Learning : Problem-solving capabilities and the aptitude for continuous learning and self-improvement.
ADI Apprenticeship is an industry-driven training methodology conducted through the collaboration of companies and training institutions. The implementation of ADI Apprenticeship can be carried out through the following methods:
Collaboration between Skills Training Centres (PLK) and Companies
Involves a partnership where the registered Skills Training Centre (PLK) provides theoretical learning, while the industry partner provides practical training and actual exposure within the working environment.
In-house Training Companies
The industry acts as an accredited training provider and implements both theoretical and practical training components entirely within the company's own facilities (In-house).
Training Duration | The training duration for a program refers to the KPPK Circular No. 2/2015 and the total credit hours specified within the respective SKPK/ NOSS. |
Training Ratio | 70% to 80% practical training (performance) in the industry and 20% to 30% theoretical training (knowledge) at the training centre. |
Personnel | ADI Apprenticeship personnel, namely the Manager, Instructor, and Coach, must be appointed and possess a valid Certificate of Recognition of Qualification as Accreditation Personnel (PPKSPP). |
Delivery Method | Day Release Example: 1 – 2 days per week of theoretical learning (knowledge) and basic skills at the training centre, and 4 – 5 days per week of practical training (performance) at the company. Block Release Example: 1 – 2 months of theoretical learning (knowledge) and basic skills at the training centre, and 4 – 5 months of practical training (performance) at the company. |

Tax Deduction
Companies implementing ADI Perantisan training are eligible for the following benefits:
a) Levy reimbursement claims for companies contributing to Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) (formerly Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad – PSMB), in accordance with Employer Circular No. 1/2008.
b) Corporate income tax deduction (single tax deduction) under the provisions of Subsection 34(6)(n) of the Income Tax Act (ITA) 1967.
